Standing At The Threshold

January 07, 20262 min read

Happy New Year and Welcome to 2026!

Standing at the threshold of 2026:

A New Year always feels like a threshold. A moment to pause before stepping forward - not rushing, not striving, but choosing how we want to be.

As we leave 2025 behind and step into 2026, I invite you to resist the pull of resolutions. This isn’t about fixing yourself or doing more. It’s about intention. About deciding how you want to show up.

Imagine yourself standing in a doorway. One foot in 2025, one foot ready to step into the year ahead. Before you cross that threshold, ask yourself three simple but powerful questions:

1. What do I want to leave behind?

Which habits, assumptions or patterns no longer serve me?

2. What do I want to bring with me?

Which values, strengths and intentions help me stay true to who I am?

3. What qualities do I want to embody?

How do I want to show up - in my relationships, my work and my life?

Strategic Pause

This moment is a strategic pause. A chance to honour where you’ve been and consciously align with who you want to become.

As I cross this threshold myself, I’m choosing to leave behind my old tendency to rescue clients. Over time, I’ve seen just how powerful it is to stay fully present - to help leaders make sense of what’s happening around them, to offer fresh perspectives, and to partner with them as they co-create new ways forward. My role is not to solve their problems for them!

What I’m bringing with me into 2026 is my deep passion for supporting leaders to lead authentically and live fulfilled lives. That might mean discovering and owning their leadership voice, reconnecting with purpose, or stepping confidently into a new chapter.

And the qualities I want to embody this year are presence, curiosity and courage.

Presence: so I am truly there for my clients and my family

Curiosity: so I keep learning, unlearning and relearning.

Courage: to step beyond my comfort zone and onto new stages, workin with larger audiences and helping more people develop their leadership presence.

(and yes, if you're looking for a conference speaker this year, please give me a call!)

The start of a New Year is more than a date change. It’s an opportunity to reset and reconnect with what matters most. When we pause to reflect, we create space to move forward with purpose and possibility.

So take a moment today to stand at the threshold of 2026.
Sit with the three questions above.
Notice what comes up.

Together, let’s step into 2026 with fresh eyes, bold intentions and the qualities that will help us grow.

I’m so looking forward to seeing what you create this year - and if you’d like support on your journey in 2026, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you.

with love

Are you cultivating your leadership presence?

How do you come to be seen as a leader whose contribution is valued? This was a question that fascinated me because it was clear that it was not simply a question of working hard and getting stuff done. There is an X factor at play and that X factor is Leadership Presence. Download your copy of my white paper on Cultivating Your Executive Presence: Why Stepping Into Your Power is Critical For CFOs.
